This is an extraordinary 3-day event that has been assembled with the needs of both our trainees and faculty in mind. Thus, it is critically important that we not only free up the time for them, but encourage our students and postdocs to attend. Every week, I read a new article about how we need to train our graduate students and postdocs to view their research in an academic environment from the perspective of translation and innovation as well as view their employment opportunities from a much broader perspective than the classic academic environment. This program is designed to provide precisely that educational experience.
I am requiring graduate students to attend, so be sure to excuse them from the lab during the relevant hours on November 12th-14th. I strongly urge the postdocs to attend as well and request that the PIs excuse them from the lab during the relevant hours.
This is a rare opportunity to receive just the educational experience that I know our students and postdocs are seeking, and it is happening right here at Mount Sinai. Increasingly, I hear the same requests from our faculty and urge all of you to attend as well. Registration is free, but required.
